Dr. Patricio Molina and the Pan Global Music Initiative, in collaboration with Universidad Católica Nordestana in the Dominican Republic, has launched a project centered on Caribbean art music, with a special focus on the music of the Dominican Republic. The project seeks to explore the rich cultural and historical dimensions of Dominican music, culminating in the publication of a volume of piano works, a series of performances, and an album recording.
Dr. Molina will conduct extensive research to compile a volume of piano works suitable for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. This pedagogical resource will incorporate traditional Dominican music and composers.
dominican music initiative
Through publications, lecture-recitals, and performances in both the United States and the Dominican Republic, Dr. Molina aims to elevate Dominican classical music. His work will advance research in Caribbean art music, particularly Dominican music, and promises to enrich music education while elevating Dominican classical music.
As part of the fellowship, Patricio is assisting in the establishment of a new fine arts faculty. As of early 2024, he has helped bring pianos to San Francisco de Macorís, with three already delivered and more on the way.
